Disappearing Act

My body
became so tiny

I could feel
my heart desperate

to survive
against my wishes

days filled with shadows
silence

is deafening
when you’re in a room

alone with every way
and everyone you’ve failed

there was that sunrise
blood orange

and I found myself
longing

and in the end I stood up
an utter mess

and admitted my brokenness
it would be months years

before I could look at myself
without hate

it is a daily battle even now
but it is that light I carry within

however small
that keeps me alive
